Incorrect use of Digital Tachographs

If you use clock cards, worksheets or any method to record your daily working hours, which may differ from the times recorded by the digital tachograph, then you could be found guilty of making a False Record.

If you clock on when you start duty and insert your smart card sometime afterwards, when you are asked if this is your start time, if you enter YES, when it is 5 or 10 minutes, for example, after you have clocked on, then this could be a false record. which states - Any person who makes or causes to be made a record which he knows to be false, can on conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 2 years.

The same applies at the end of the day when you remove the card and state that this is your finish time, when infact you clock off, or write on your worksheet a later time.

You must always amend your start and finish times manually, to correspond with clock cards and worksheets.
