Distance recording with VDO Kienzle EC tachograph type MTCO 1324

The German Federal Vehicle Office granted the EEC design approvals, number el-83 and el-85 for the VDO Kienzle EC tachograph type MTCO 1324.

This model of EC tachograph contains technical functions that have been designed in accordance with the legal regulations and are in some respects different to the operation of other EC tachographs (e.g. Type 1318).

As you can see from figure (1) the distance recording of the EC tachograph 1324 differs from that of the previous EC tachographs.

New   The distance recording (1) will be interrupted if the time group switches for both drivers are set to the rest and the ignition is switched off .  There will be no trace in the distance trace section of the chart during this time.

Normal operation of the tachograph will resume when either selecting any mode other than REST with Ignition off or switching the ignition on and moving the vehicle.

This corresponds to the legal requirements for recording the distance covered (according to Community Regulation (EEC) 3821/85, Appendix I: Section II, Section l11, a), 1.2; Section III, c); 1 2; Section IV, b), 1.)
