NEW SOFTWARE TIS 3

Section 1.

Upgrading your older version of Tisweb

Initially go to Start in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, click on My Computer.  In the task bar near to the top of your screen find Folders.  Click on this and you will see the drives on your computer listed in the left hand side of the screen.  Click on the plus sign alongside C: and the files on the C: drive will drop down.

Find the file VKISClnt and delete this file.  Ensure that before you do this that all browser windows are closed.  Once deleted go to the re-cycle bin and delete the file from there. This is the file that contains the old active X controls.  Once you sign in again the new software will be installed.

Now go to the link below to login.

There has been an upgrade to the software and so your IT department may have to install the updates for you.

Try these solutions. Quickstart

If they do not work there is further information below including answers to some questions sent us.

Section 2.

Problems installing new software.

When you login to your account you may encounter an error message which says that there has been a problem with the client software installer. Please contact your support agent.

You must check your Internet Explorer browser settings to ensure that they are enabled to allow you to install Active X controls.

For information on these settings visit the links below

TISWeb - Getting Started

You will also need to check your settings in Windows Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, to ensure that the boxes are ticked, under Security, the same as shown in the link below.

TISWeb- Advanced Settings

The trusted site should now be https://www.my-fis.co.uk/, not https://www.tiseweb.co.uk as shown in the graphics.

Section 3.

First time installing software onto computer

If this is the first time that you have installed the software and there is no VKISClnt folder already on the C: drive and you are still having problems installing the software after changing your browser setting described above, install the software from the following link.

  • Go to SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS FOR TIS-WEB, and install the following patchs.

    TIS-Web Client Software Offline Installer,

    TIS-Web Client Software Offline Update.

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable.

Section 4.

Section 5.

CANNOT TRANSFER DATA FROM DOWNLOAD KEY OR COMPUTER

When you login to your account and try to download from the download key or computer you may see a white square with a red cross.  To enable you to display these images you will need to install the following patch.

Click on the Software downloads for TIS-Web, scroll down the page once it loads, until you get to Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and install this file.

Once this file has been installed go back to the login page and enter your login details and the software should now work to enable you to download data from drivers cards, the download key and to transfer data from the download tool.

White box with red square still appears

If you still see the white box with the red square, having installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable software, try the following

  • Close all browser windows and Internet connections.
  • Go to My Computer>C drive and delete the VKISClnt folder.
  • Remove it from the recycle bin.
  • Go to SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS FOR TIS-WEB, but this time install the following patch. TIS-Web Client Software Offline Installer - 3rd listing down, not the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable.
  • PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS WITH THIS INSTALLATION.

If you have tried the above and tried to download from the download key and the image will still not display properly and all you get is the files listed to be transferred but the rest of the image
does not display so that the OK button can be seen, enabling the transfer of data, see below.

Please check that the DPI is set to 96 (see below). By selecting display in control panel, then Settings and finally Advanced.

Settings.

You must ensure that you have the correct settings for

  • Legal Archive
  • Working Time
  • Infringement

If you do not you may not:

  • Download the correct data from cards and V U's.
  • Appear to download data from Drivers and Vehicles, but it will be ignored.
  • Not run the correct legislation for reports.
  • If you select ignore data from unknown drivers and vehicles you will lose all data from agency drivers and hire vehicles not listed in your account.
  • If you chose to add unknown vehicle to your site you will download all vehicles and drivers from agency driver cards and hire vehicles.

For more information on settings visit:

Recommended Settings.

How do I remove vehicles and drivers from the download reminder list.

To remove drivers and vehicle from the reminder list, for example agency drivers or hire vehicles you need to go to Archive Management>Company Data.  Select the driver or vehicle select modify and insert a finish date.

Driver availability

If you run a driver availability report, you will be shown the last download for drivers in your account, even drivers who have left, unless you enter a finish date, for the current month.

How do I view a single chart.

You need to go to Archive Management>Working Time.  Select the driver or vehicle and click on the blue square for the date of the chart you wish to view and then click open.

How do I change Working Time Directive settings.

Go to Archive Management>Company Data>Sites>Select the site>Modify>Working Hours.  Change the settings to the selections that you want.  (You can only change the start and finish dates of your period if you have selected a fixed period not a rolling window).

Downloading from download key or download tool.

First connect the device to the computer.  With the download tool ensure it is connected and switched on

To download from the download key select Download key

To download from the download tool select Computer.  You will then see files on your computer listed in the left hand box.  Click on Download tool.  If you cannot see this in the box click on the plus sign next to My Computer, which will list the drives on your computer, when you should see the drive letter E: for example, with download tool alongside it.

In both cases you will then see previously downloaded files and new Driver Card/VU files on the right hand side.

Ensure that only the new files have a tick in the box.  Untick any previously downloaded files.

Then click OK and the files will be transferred.

Downloading from Digidown tool

Copy driver files and vehicle files into the VKISClnt/Download folder on your computer or any other folder that you wish to set up in My Documents.

Change the suffix to .DDD.

Go into your account to Settings>Legal Archive and ensure that the Speed Data Block is unticked.

Then go to Download and select the folder where you want to search for the files.  This should default to VKISClnt/Downloads, otherwise select the folder where you have stored the files.

How do I attach a driver card to a driver.

Unlike the old system you cannot add a driver card to a driver.  This will be done when the card is downloaded.  You must ensure that the driver has been added to your account with their full name and start date.

What happens unknown vehicles and driver card data.

You need to set up a second site in your account and select this as the destination for unknown drivers and vehicles.  You will then be able to view the data to see if it needs to be retrieved from this site and transferred into your main site.

How do I find journeys without a driver card

Go to Archive Management.  Select the site where the vehicle you wish to view is located.  Select Working Time and then the vehicle in question.  Mouse over the blue squares for the month that you have downloaded and a pop up will say who the driver was or whether the vehicle was driven on that day without a card.

Simply click on the square relating to no driver card and you will be able to modify the entry and add a drivers name to the journey.

Analysing charts using the Compact Reader

Analyse the chart and then put in any faults, before you save the chart.

Comments not printed on reports

At the moment comments put in when analysing charts are not printed on reports, but this is being looked into for a later release of the software.

Error transferring data from download key

Data has been downloaded from the vehicle onto the download key.  The key is plugged into the computer and the vehicle files are listed but when the data starts to be transferred, a red cross appears alongside one of the files and it says data cannot be downloaded.

You will need to un-tick the speed data block which you will find under setting - legal archive and then re transfer the data.

Error message when logging in

If you see the following error message when you login you have typed something wrong in one or more of the boxes.  If you do this 3 times you will be locked out of your account, on the computer that you are using, for 30 minutes. THIS MEANS THAT YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG.  IT IS NOT THE SOFTWARE.

If you see this message when you first login clear all of the data out of the three boxes and re-enter it.

Also make sure that you are logging in to the correct site http://www.vdo-tis.co.uk/

Same Driver with two names

Where a driver card is downloaded without checking the listing of that name in an account will result in clients having the same driver listed twice, for example without a middle name and with a middle name.

To merge the data go to Archive Management>Company Data>Drivers.  Select the drivers name which has the digital data (normally the full name, including a middle name)  This will bring up a screen which will have 'driver card' at the bottom.

Click on the image of the driver card, alongside the driver number which brings up a screen that will allow you to assign that card to the 2nd drivers name that you have in your account, which is normally the old name put on when analysing analogue charts.

You can then delete off the duplicate drivers name which no longer had data associated with it.

Entering Events

When entering events, such as holidays and sickness you need to start the event at 00:00 hrs on the first day to 00:00 hrs on the next day after the event finishes.

For example where a driver has the 4th to 5th of January as a Personal Holiday, enter the start as 00:00 4th of January to 00:00 6th of January.

Cannot transfer driver card/VU files into account, from computer

The message I am getting the moment I press ok to start downloading from the computer is

Internet explorer has stopped working, then it only gives the option to close.

Delete the client software from the C drive (File C:/VKISClnt )and also remove the TIS-Web program in Add and Remove programs (not always there) under the control panel. Once complete then login again and try to download the software.

If you still have problems see Section 3 above

VU fault.

Following the downloading of a driver card the following infringement is shown in the Driver Report.

"VU internal fault"

VU stands for vehicle unit, in other words a fault with the tachograph. Therefore the customer needs to get the tachograph checked over.

Error downloading driver card

Q. One of my clients has tried to download a driver card and gets the following error message when he clicks on the driver card image in his account.  Do you know what it means?

Invalid translation string I D supplied.

A. Please get your customer to delete the folder VKISClnt on theC drive and check in Add and Remove Programs for TIS-Web Client Software and remove it. They may also need to check the security settings of the PC, by following the PDF file in Useful Documents under Data Management Help on www.vdo-tis.co.uk.
