DIGITAL TACHOGRAPH - QUESTIONS

The fitment of digital tachographs is now with us and time is running out for you to decide which system you will choose to download your information from the digital tachograph drivers cards.  You also need to think about combining data from analogue charts and the digital card.

We provide a number of solutions to enable you to download analogue and digital data.

_

Q. In preparation for the digital revolution... are there any card readers and associated software that you are able to supply us with, so that we can download the data from the driver cards for analysis?

R. Yes we provide a selection of card readers.

Q. What will be the cost of the smart card reader.

R. Details of all of our readers and accessories here

Q. Will I need to buy expensive equipment to download the data.

R.  No.  If you are an existing client, all you need is a free USB port to plug the card reader into.  For new clients you will need a computer with an Internet connection.

-

Q. What will be the cost of downloading the data from the drivers cards.

R. For digital data download only the charge is per driver per digital chart.

_

Q.  Will I be able to download the vehicle data.

R.  Yes there will be a USB cable link or download key to enable you to download and archive vehicle data.  This however these are additional options.  The download key is priced at £177.00.

-

Q. What data is stored on the download key.

R.  It will store data from the digital tachograph, but not manual entries and should be compatible with all digital tachograph heads.  To store data from the drivers card you need to have the card inserted when you download the data.

Q.  Will we be able to download workshop data

R.  Yes.  Workshop software facilitates the processing and management of test, customer and vehicle data.  This is an add-on to the card and chart analysis software.

Q. What happens when I use digital and analogue vehicles in the same week

R. You should take a print out for each day that you use the digital tachograph.

Q. When do I use a company card.

R. You will need to archive data under future legislation.  You also need to use it to book the vehicle onto your company, to lock out any data prior to your use and after you use the vehicle.  Especially when you hire a vehicle to lock out your data to other users.

Q. What happens if I do not lock out the vehicle to my company

R. You will not be able to download data from the digital tachograph onto a download tool.  You must log your company onto the vehicle when you take possession of it, including hire vehicles and you must lock the tachograph out when you finish with the vehicle.

Q. Can I use the vehicle if I do not have a driver card.

R. Only if you have used a card in the past.  You cannot use new vehicles unless you have registered your drivers card on a previous occasion.  Then you can use the tachograph and produce printouts at the end of your duty.
