System Requirements
Any PC that is to have access to the Siemens
VDO Trading Ltd Internet chart analysis / digital download system requires the following:
TIS-Web can currently be used with the following
PC operating systems
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows XP Home
- Windows Vista
Your PC will also need:
- 50MB free hard disk space
- One free USB port for Smart Card Reader
- One free serial port (Only if using Compact
Chart Reader for analogue charts)
- Internet connection – Broadband recommended
- When using the Compact Reader a PS2 and free COMS Port. ( USB adapters can
be purchased if you do not have COMS port. If you use USB connections
you will have to configure your computer to recognise the connection as
COMS1)
What Internet Browsers can I
use?
You may use TIS-Web with any version of Microsoft
Internet Explorer from version 5.5 or better. No other browser is currently
supported.
No requirement is specified for free disk space
as either system has minimal storage requirements on the users PC.
Your Internet Security settings must also allow
- The loading of cookies
- The loading of signed Active-X components
The Siemens VDO Trading Ltd internet chart
analysis system makes use of cookies and Active-X controls loaded onto your PC
from the Siemens VDO Trading Ltd web server.
If you prohibit the loading of
these controls then the service will not work. Therefore your Internet Security
settings must allow the loading and use of cookies and Active-X controls.
All of
Siemens VDO Trading Ltd components are registered with Verisign.

The minimum requirements for the OPTAC Software
are as follows:
- Windows
2000 SP4: Pentium III - 500MHz, 128MB RAM
- Windows
XP SP2: Pentium 4 - 1.0Ghz, 256MB RAM
- Display
Resolution: 800 x 600 256 colours
It is recommend that clients use Windows XP
Service Pack 2 as a minimum.
Once installed and in use, OPTAC and your data
will typically occupy between 100 MB and 1GB of hard-disk space, depending on
the size of your fleet. To install OPTAC, you will need a CD drive. You can use
any Windows-compatible printer to produce reports.
